Blew my diet today, I'm not beating myself up over it, at least not much. :) We had a potluck in the science dept at work and the food was delish! I allowed myself to splurge and I overate. My stomach definitely felt it. This weakness is why I try to avoid all you can eat buffets, i feel like I have to try everything and that I have to get my money's worth.
Later in the day I was ready to snack more despite still being full and I recognized that it was because I was tired and procrastinating. So just looking for something to do to keep me busy. I didn't eat anything after I recognized what was happening. YAY! I'm getting better....
The scale didn't move for me today. Still where it was last week. I didn't make this my official weigh in though since BC weigh in is on monday. I figured delay my ediet and then the weigh ins will be on the same day. I hope it pays off!

U.S. Bishops Release Fact Sheet Summarizing Church’s Constant Condemnation of Abortion
Washington
DC, Sep 3, 2008 (CNA).- Following last week’s remarks by U.S. House
Speaker Nancy Pelosi claiming that Church teaching on the sinfulness of
abortion has changed, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (USCCB)
Committee on Pro-Life Activities has issued a two-page fact sheet
called “Respect for Unborn Human Life: The Church’s Constant Teaching”
to explain that it has not.
Rep.
Pelosi, a California Democrat, made what a USCCB press release calls
“misleading remarks” in an August 24 interview with Chris Matthews,
where she cited an interpretation of St. Augustine as justification for
her stand on abortion. On August 26 Cardinal Justin Rigali, chairman of
the USCCB Committee on Pro-Life Activities, joined Bishop William Lori,
chairman of the USCCB Committee on Doctrine, in issuing a statement to
correct their remarks. Other bishops released similar statements of
their own.
“This well
documented fact sheet will help Catholics and others form their
consciences in accordance with the Church’s unchanging teaching in
defense of unborn human life,” said Deirdre McQuade, Assistant Director
for Policy and Communications at the USCCB’s Secretariat of Pro-Life
Activities.
The fact sheet
quotes the Catechism of the Catholic Church’s paragraph 2271, which
states “Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil
of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains
unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either
as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law.”
The
fact sheet tells how the earliest Christians were distinguishable from
pagan cultures in part because of their rejection of abortion and
infanticide, as shown in early Christian writings such as the Didache
and the Letter of Barnabas.
Pre-modern
Christian thinkers generally drew from the biological writings of the
fourth century, BC philosopher Aristotle. Such theories taught that
there is a period of between the conception of the fetus and its
reception of a soul in a process called “ensoulment.” However, the fact
sheet explains, “such mistaken biological theories never changed the
Church’s common conviction that abortion is gravely wrong at every
stage.”
Turning to St.
Augustine, the 5th century AD bishop quoted by Nancy Pelosi, the fact
sheet insists “rejection of abortion at every stage was affirmed by the
great bishop-theologian St. Augustine.”
Noting
that Augustine based his thoughts regarding abortion on both ancient
biology and a mistaken Bible translation, the fact sheet says he
nonetheless “wisely warned against misusing such theories to risk
committing homicide.”
“He
added that God has the power to make up all human deficiencies or lack
of development in the Resurrection, so we cannot assume that the
earliest aborted children will be excluded from enjoying eternal life
with God,” it continues.
While
granting that Church law was often informed by ancient biological
theories, and thus distinguished between late and early abortions,
“abortion at all stages continued to be seen as a grave moral evil,”
the fact sheet says.
After the
advances of nineteenth century biology, the fact sheet explains, “from
1869 onward the obsolete distinction between the ‘ensouled’ and
‘unensouled’ fetus was permanently removed from canon law on abortion.”
“Modern
science,” the fact sheet insists, “has not changed the Church’s
constant teaching against abortion, but has underscored how important
and reasonable it is, by confirming that the life of each individual of
the human species begins with the earliest embryo.”
The
fact sheet says that the Church’s opposition to abortion rests upon the
principle that “each and every human life has inherent dignity, and
thus must be treated with the respect due to a human person.” Claiming
that some living human beings should not be treated as persons because
of changeable factors like “age, condition, location, or lack of mental
or physical abilities,” is to deny that there is such a thing as
inherent human worth.
“Such a claim undermines respect for the lives of many vulnerable people before and after birth,” the fact sheet concludes.
I am an aficianado of the random muse ...the pondering of miscellaneous riddles. As I sit here over my cole slaw (its not wiggling..that's the table shifting..I swear), there are a few WWE rumblings which are the subject of my current considerations. First, regarding Vickie and the Undertaker...yes, dear, we know she's going to rot, burn, be pillaged, sacrificed, ex-communicated and generally made a spectacle of in devious and macabre ways...so get on with it already. Are you waiting for Congress? We know your plan. Time to execute (hehe..no pun intended). On the more serious side, I hope the Taker isn't still hurting and that that isn't the raisond'etre of all these promos. I love seeing him back, even if it is only to watch his great facial expressions and divinely pithy phrases ("Look at me, woman!" = instant classic), but I'd far rather have him healthy.
Second, regarding Vickie taking out her frustrations on the Big Show...um...why? If there's one thing in WWE that drives me nuts, its these random gestures (wait a sec, TL...they're not allowed to be random, but I am?? Yes, I've spotted the hypocrisy. Mea culpa.) Further, is it absolutely necessary to turn Big S heel? He makes such a lovable face. Isn't he cute? And he can pound your skull in too...awww! Would it really turn the WWE universe upside down to have a huge monster be a good guy? Would gravity stop working? Would 'E' no longer equal 'mc' squared?
Third: here I go on divas again. I'm not sure about all these new divas. It often seems there's barely enough storyline to go around for the existing ones. And while I'm on the subject - Maryse is the #1 Contender for the Divas title? Maryse?? In what altered dimension? That sure tops the new list of things that make you go "What the Falkand Islands!" It would be clear to a cyclops...or an umpire (same difference) that Natalya is the class of the field in that respect. Do they just need someone McCool can beat easily? What happened to Natalya's push? Sigh.
To cap off my rantings, I want to give some props to Batista. The year he spent working w/ UT really helped him. He's grown so much as a performer over that time, not just in the way he handles matches, but also in his mic skills. He's done a great job recently bringing out personality in his character. Yes, he still needs some work before he can carry one of the lawn statues (Khali, etc) through a match but still, nicely done. Tip of Stetson. Back to the cole slaw :-).

Today was an exciting day for us. Our 4th grandchild, Quinntin Douglas Joseph Honsberger, arrived at 8:49AM. He weighs 8 lbs. 3 oz. and is 20 1/2 inches long. He has some dark hair and very dark blue eyes. His two sisters Claudia and Hannah are excited about their new brother. Grandma & Grandpa are being kept busy babysitting the girls while their mother and new baby brother are in the hospital. Congratulations Stuart & A.J.
According to the McCain camp, it doesn't matter who Palin is as long as she reads from the script. We need to blow the lid of this!!! Julia Roberts probably could deliver Palin's speech even better, but that doesn't qualify her to be President (yes President, because the VP's real job is to be a backup Prez). The ability to understand the issues and have your own opinion are very important here. Instead McCain is now going all glitz and glamour. Who is the "celebrity" now?
A John McCain campaign aide tells Jay Carney that she sees no reason why Sarah Palin should have to answer reporters' queries:
According to Nicole Wallace of the McCain campaign, the American people don't care whether Sarah Palin can answer specific questions about foreign and domestic policy. According to Wallace -- in an appearance I did with her this morning on Joe Scarborough's show -- the American people will learn all they need to know (and all they deserve to know) from Palin's scripted speeches and choreographed appearances on the campaign trail and in campaign ads.
Newsweek's Jonathan Alter predicts how this strategy will play out:
I'd imagine that Palin will dodge press conferences in favor of interviews with people like Sean Hannity, Larry King and Ellen DeGeneres. Then, when the media complain that she is being kept away, the McCain campaign will cite the half dozen or so interviews she has granted as proof that the campaign press is just bellyaching. Brief press "avails" on the plane will be useless, unless reporters ask open-ended queries designed to elicit proof of real knowledge.
That should get Palin through the next three weeks. By the end of the month, the McCain camp can say she has to go to ground to prepare for the Oct. 2 vice presidential debate, where expectations will be so low for Palin that she will likely emerge intact. It will be up to the press and public to raise enough of a stink about this, that Palin is forced to submit to real interviews with real questions that show whether her real-life experience is any preparation for assuming high office. In that sense, the Palin nomination is as much of a test of us as it is of her.

What harm would befall the McCain campaign if Palin sat for one major television interivew with, say, a gentle but probing Diane Sawyer... and then an interview with her local paper in Alaska... and then gave no press avails and held no press conferences. The media would complain a lot. Would people care?
Okay, I am not much for complaining or running off at the mouth much. But, Now My voice is going to be heard,actually my word will be read. I didn't say much 15 years ago when Billy Gunn was being held back, simply because we didn't have this cool stuff. I even didn't say much when R.V.D was being held back 5 years ago, but at least they did something for him they didn't do for Billy. Well, Now I half to say something for the Big Red Machine....KANE!! Having in the record books for him holding the title for 24 hours was wipped from the books when he won the ECW title, that's fine. But, C'mon man you can't keep him down, This is KANE!! If they don't give him a chance to hold the title a little longer he's going to take it from someone, or worse yet hurt someone in the process. Undertaker has had severl shots and title runs, as well as; Cena, Edge, Batista, and Orton. Why should guy's like; Kennedy, Finlay, Kane, MVP, Matt and Jeff Hardy suffer because guy's like Triple H, Shawn Micheals, JBL, Undertaker, and Jericho always get the nod for title shots. Thirty years ago it was nice watching all of they guy's competing for the title, and spots were erned, now it's all based on popularity. As a long time fan, it saddens me to see that not everyone is given a fair shot anymore. I know for fact that Kane can hold that title just as long as Triple H or Cena.
